Etta Louise Ferrell Motes departed this life on Monday, Oct. 6, at the age of 94 years, 6 months, 3 days. She was born on April 3, 1920, the daughter of the late John Kenny and Ada Humphrey Ferrell.
Mrs. Motes was married to Calcia Cornelius Motes from June 24, 1935 to July 10, 1969.
She was employed at Hardin County General Hospital from 1969 to 1982 as a housekeeper. She was a member of Savannah Heights Church of Christ. Her family will remember her most for her unconditional love and how she always saw the good in everyone. She enjoyed cooking, reading and quilting until her vision failed.
She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Carmack of Plant City, Florida, Marilyn Russell and Janice Price, both of Savannah; 12 grandchildren, Tracy Sissom, Donna, Mark and Steve Russell, David Motes, Susan Taylor, Tina Sapp and Donnie, Doug, Tony, Carol and Danny Carmack; 11 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and 44 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Motes is preceded in death by one son, Royce Eugene Motes; one daughter-in-law, Mattie Sue Shelby Motes; five sisters, Hattie Hardin, Bessie Brandon, Mary Davis, Cora Hood and baby Edwina Ferrell; nine brothers, Homer, William, Baby Boy, Riley, Lawrence, Robert, Hobert, Gilbert and Edwin Ferrell; and one granddaughter, Tammy Sue Motes.
Memorial donations can be made to Savannah Heights Church Of Christ, 301 North Harrison, Savannah, 38372 or a charity of your choice.   
Services were held on Friday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Jack Byars and Jonathan Ellis officiating. Burial followed in Mount Hermon Cemetery at Hardin County.
