Etta Franks Sherrill of Collinwood, Tenn., was born on Sept. 27, 1925 in Savannah, the daughter of the late McKinley Neal and Ada Melson Franks. She was united in marriage to Lonzo Sherrill on April 3, 1943 and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2006.

Mrs. Sherrill was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith and had lived in the Germany Branch community in Hardin County, in earlier years.

Mrs. Sherrill departed this life on Monday, Nov. 4, at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tenn., at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 8 days.

She is survived by a son, Ricky Sherrill and wife, Kim; a daughter, Joyce Ann Devers, all of Collinwood, Tenn.; sister, Susie Stricklin of the Big Ivy community of Hardin County; grandchildren, Bobby and Stanton Murphy, Scott, Steve, and Sheryl  Devers, Christopher Sherrill, Cindy Daniel, Nicholas and Greg Sherrill; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sherrill was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Sherrill; a daughter, Shirley Murphy; a grandchild, Greg Murphy; two brothers, Oscar Franks, Arthur Franks and four sisters, Katherine Johnson, Mary Sherrill, Jewel Wilkerson and Edith Holt.

Services were held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Collinwood, Tenn., with Daniel Holt and Jerry L. Robbins officiating. Burial followed at Memorial Gardens in Collinwood, Tenn. with Shackelford Funeral Directors,  Wayne County, directing.

Pallbearers were Scott Devers, Steve Devers, Nicholas Sherrill, Greg Sherrill, Chris Sherrill, and Daniel Devers. Honorary pallbearers wereTyler, Jacob, Andrew, and Brady Devers.
