Frances Jane Feitz, 65 years old, residing in Lakeville, Ind., passed away at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Ind., after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Jane was born July 31, 1948, in Savannah to the late Audie and Lura Franks Brown.

She has lived most of her life in Savannah and Lakeville, Ind. On Nov. 4, 2006, in South Bend, Ind., she married Max D. Feitz.

Mrs. Feitz was an upholsterer of furniture most of her life. She enjoyed her work and friendships made while employed at Culver Military Academy for the past 18 years in the facilities department. Jane attended Faith Christian Chapel in Lakeville, Ind., was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lakeville Chapter 479, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed her friendships while a member of the Amarillo Star Dance Club. She was an unselfish and giving person, always putting the needs of others before her own. She loved her family and they will miss her dearly.

One of Jane’s proudest accomplishments was her college degree. In her 50s, she decided to enroll at Ivy Tech and accomplished her goal of graduating with a degree in interior design. She was on the dean’s list her entire college career and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Along with her loving husband, Max, survivors include her daughter, Tina King of Milledgeville; son, Daniel C. King of North Liberty, Ind.; step-daughter, Dee (Ray) Edson of Lakeville, Ind.; two step-sons, Vince Feitz of LaPaz, Ind. and Frank (Angela) Feitz of Lakeville, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Freida (Ron) Woody of Mishawaka, Ind.; and two brothers, Loyd (Kathie) Brown of Osceola, Ind. and Roger Brown of Savannah.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Jesse Risner and three brothers, Johnny, A.W., and Audie Lee Brown.

A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held at Newton Center, 601 N. Michigan Street, Lakeville, Ind., Sunday, Jan. 26. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 3 p.m. where a catered meal will begin at 4 p.m. A formal celebration, led by David Herbster, will begin at 5 p.m. and will be followed by an Order of the Eastern Star service from the Lakeville Chapter. Private burial will take place at Bremen Cemetery in Bremen, Ind. Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville is assisting the family with arrangements.
