Gary McCasland (8-29-11) services 9-16-11

Gary McCasland, 59, was born in Savannah, on Feb. 24, 1952, son of W.A. and Emma Nell Shelby McCasland.

Gary had worked on the towboat, unloaded trucks for Helping Hands and fed the homeless in Clearwater, Fla. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

He departed this life on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Bay Pines Hospice Care in Bay Pines, Fla.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother David McCasland, sister, Sandra McCasland Blount, grandparents Bert and Daisy Shelby, grandparents Adley and Madras McCasland, all of Savannah.

He is survived by friends in Florida and cousins in Savannah.

Funeral will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, Fla., at 10:45 a.m., on Friday, Sept. 16, with full military honors.
