Gene Wolfe

Gene Autry Wolfe, 70, of Sardis, died Friday, April 2.

He was born in McNairy County, the son of the late Jon Carnell and Georgia Velma Wolfe. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Bridges, who survives.

Mr. Wolfe was member of the Calvary Baptist Church and attended Scotts Hill Methodist Church. He worked on a river boat for six years and later at Columbus McKinnie for 27- 1/2 years.

Services were held on Monday, April 5, at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Johnson Chapel in Henderson, Tenn., with Billy Allegood officiating. Burial was in the Milledgeville Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Wolfe of Sardis; two daughters, Marilyn Ann Long of Kodak, Tenn., Margaret Annette Sickler of Sardis; four grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Wolfe of Algonquin, Ill.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Porter; six brothers, James, George, John Henry, Jerry, Joe, Donnie Wolfe.
