Harold Caperton (11-18-13) service 11-20-13

Harold B. Caperton was born on Sept. 28, 1922, in Olive Hill, the son of the late Noah B. and Fannie Abernathy Caperton. On May 24, 1942, he was united in marriage to the late Johnnie Tidwell, who preceded her husband in death on Feb. 9, 1991.

Mr. Caperton was a retired rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Adamsville for whom he had worked for a number of years. He had also owned and operated J and H Variety Store, and was coowner of Tidwell and Caperton Lumber Co. Mr. Caperton was a member of First Baptist Church of Adamsville, where he had served as a deacon for over 60 plus years. He was also a former member and president of the Adamsville Lions Club, and a member of the Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. He loved attending church and loved feeding his family.

Mr. Caperton departed this life at his residence in Adamsville, on Monday, Nov. 18, at the age of 91 years, 1 month, and 27 days.

He is survived by his daughters, Sue C. Kennedy and husband Billy Joe of Savannah, and Nancy C. Hodge of Adamsville; five grandchildren, Michelle Wilkes and husband, Jeff of Savannah; Karen Broadway and husband, Robbie of Savannah; Catherine Morris of Adamsville; Chris Collins and wife, Jackie, and Brian Collins and wife, Jessica, all of Chesterfield, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Kennedy Wilkes, Wheeler Wilkes, Harley Catherine Morris, Belle Broadway, McKinley Collins, Harper Collins, and Emma Claire Collins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Beverly Caperton Collins; two brothers, Wilbur Caperton and Wallace Caperton and two sisters, Reesa Smith and Mary Kalbach.

Services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at First Baptist Church in Adamsville with Phil Mitchell, Elmer D. Seaton and Frank Kemper officiating. Burial followed at Adamsville Cemetery in Adamsville.
