Hazel Davis

Hazel Haggard Davis was born in Hardin County on Nov. 15, 1915, the daughter of the late Otis Orville and Zelma Alice Garrard Haggard.

On Aug. 22, 1931, she was united in marriage to Wallace Davis, who preceded his wife in death on July 1, 1993.

Mrs. Davis was a machine operator for Savannah Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the former Savannah Foursquare Church. Mrs. Davis loved gardening, going to church and reading her Bible.

She departed this life on July 24, at the Hardin Medical Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Savannah, at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 9 days.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter-in-law, Freeda Davis of Savannah; her granddaughter, Debbie Dockery and her husband David of Savannah; one great-grandson, Dalton Dockery of Savannah; one sister, Lela Griffin of Savannah; and two brothers, Earl and Byrl Haggard, both of Savannah.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Guymon Davis, two brothers, Sam and Herbert Haggard and one half brother, Barney K. Haggard.

Services were held on Monday, July 26, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Eric Jones officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
