Helen Corine Jordan McCasland, of Savannah, departed this life on Sunday, April 29, at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 9 days.
She was born in Bethalto, Illinois, on Feb. 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Pete and Lucile Newell Jordan. On July 10, 1945, she was united in marriage to Fremon McCasland, who survives.
Throughout her life Helen had lived in numerous places such as Alton, Illinois, where she had worked at Western Cartridge; Granite City, Illinois, where she had worked at the Army Depot; and Savannah where she had worked at the Weber Button Factory and Dillon Manufacturing. Helen was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She loved working crossword puzzles, playing piano and reading her Bible.
She is survived by her husband of almost 73 years, Fremon McCasland of Savannah; children, Linda Carole Woodward of Paragould, Arkansas, Celia Ann Heavner of Jackson, Tennessee, and Roy Steve McCasland of Savannah; seven grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Mae Emery; and a brother, Woodrow Lynn Jordan.
Services are held today, Thursday, May 3, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tracy Love and Joe Paul Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain View Church of Christ Cemetery at Savannah.
