Jack Lamar Roberts of Counce died on Monday, Jan. 19, at Magnolia Regional Health Center due to heart failure.
Soon after his birth on April 21, 1931, in Bath, South Carolina, his family relocated to Parkin, Arkansas. In 1950 Jack joined the U.S. Navy where he served as a frogman during the Korean Conflict. Following honorary discharge he worked as a long haul truck driver for Signal Delivery Service and ABF Motor Freight Line until his retirement in 1994.
He leaves his wife of 52 years, Pat Roberts; three children, Frank L. Roberts of Kennesaw, Georgia, Catherine Roberts Clemmer of Savannah and Chris L. Roberts of Onyx, California; four grandchildren, Kelly S. Clemmer, Heather Nicole Griffis, Ariane Weldon and Jennifer Roberts Warkentin; two sisters, Martha Daniels of Lebanon, Tennessee and Frances Grant of Monette, Arkansas; and one brother, Robert Morgan of Naples, Florida.
In 1998 he moved to Counce where he enjoyed his lifetime interests of hunting, fishing and reading.
He was an active member of Counce First Baptist Church where he served in numerous volunteer capacities.
Services were held on Thursday, Jan. 22, at Counce First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmie McChristial officiating.
