James Turnbo
James Irvin Turnbo was born on Dec. 24, 1933, the son of the late Thomas Irvin and Ethel Inez Parrish Turnbo. He was united in marriage to Betty Turnbo, who preceded him in death. James departed this life on Thursday, June 8.
James served his country in the United States Army, serving in Korea in 1957. He worked for IGERT Towing before working as a machinist for TVA. James was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He enjoyed collecting arrowheads and Civil War relics, fishing, and hunting. James was an outstanding mechanic and machinist that specialized in working on small engines and boat motors. He was also a commercial fisherman.
James is survived by his nephews, John P. Garner and wife Shelia of Huntsville, Alabama and Thomas James Garner and wife Zora of Weaver, Alabama; a niece, Cathy Lee Garner of Jacksonville, Alabama; a sister, Virginia Turnbo Garner Thackery of Anniston, Alabama;  several great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m., at Mt. Zion Church of Christ, at Pickwick Street, with Rev. Gilbert Gough officiating.
