Janet Russell was born in Hardin County on Jan. 10, 1961, the daughter of the late Robert Porter and Carrie Catherine Shaw Ferrell.

On Nov. 21, 1980, she was united in marriage to Thomas Jerrolds Russell, who survives.

Janet was a nurse for Hardin Medical Center for 30 years.  She was a member of Spirit and Truth Church in Adamsville. Janet loved shopping for antiques and going to Jesus Cares. In her spare time she enjoyed working with flowers and making all kinds of floral designs. Janet’s greatest love was being with her grandchildren and playing with them.

She  departed this life on Wednesday, March 20, in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 58 years, 2 months and 10 days.

Janet is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jerrolds Russell of Savannah; her children, Amanda Russell and Thomas Russell, both of Savannah; grandchildren, Kady Martin and Berklee Russell; and sister, Jane Ferrell of Savannah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Franklin Ferrell and Lloyd Eugene Ferrell.

Services were held on Sunday, March 24, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Robert Howse officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
