Jimmy Shubert, of Savannah, departed this life on Sunday, March 10, at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 10 days.

He was born in Savannah on Aug. 30, 1951, the son of the late James Shubert and Cynthia Rainy Vandiver. On Oct. 15, 1994, he was united in marriage to Peggy Stricklin, who survives.

Jimmy lived in Savannah his whole life and was a member of Turkey Creek Union Church. He retired from Roach’s Sawmill, where he had worked for more than 18 years. Jimmy loved deer hunting, especially with his boys and grandchildren. He loved his kids, but when the grandchildren came along they were the light and joy in his life, he was happiest when they were around. One of his favorite things he loved the best was in the summer, gathering the grandkids outside and cutting watermelon...oh how he loved to do things like that. He was a good husband and even though he wasn’t feeling good, he always made Peggy feel loved. They loved one another and that’s what got them through everything.

Along with his wife of 24 years, Peggy Shubert of Savannah, Jimmy is survived by his children, Tim Shubert and his wife Trish of Savannah and Dale Shubert of Destin, Florida; stepchildren, Jeremy Terry and his wife Mindy, Matthew Terry, and Jenny Harville, all of Savannah; grandchildren, Austin Shubert, Aiden Shubert, Dalton Shubert, Jasmine Harville, Dawson Harville, Aubrey Harville, Kaden Terry and Addie Terry; brothers, Robert Shubert of Waycross, Georgia and Donald Shubert of Savannah; sisters, Mable Schuy of Fries, Virginia and Barbara White of Savannah; stepfather, Melvin Vandiver; special aunt, Frankie Bratton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers, Sammy Shubert, Earnest Shubert and Austin Brewer.

Services were held on Thursday, March 14, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Chad Balentine officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
