Jo Steele, 70, of Verona, Miss., died Saturday, Nov. 20, at her daughter’s residence in Vernon, Ala., after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Hardin County, daughter of the late Archie and Louella Strickland. She was united in marriage to Ken Steele, who survives.

Mrs. Steele was a member of Brewer Baptist Church and had retired from Food World as an office clerk.

Services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at Brewer Baptist Church with Keith Wiseman and Jimmy Horton officiating. Burial was in Lee Memorial Park. Arrangements by Lee Memorial Funeral Home.

In addition to her husband, Ken Steele of Verona, Miss., she is survived by one daughter, Teresa Hulen of Vernon, Ala.; three step-daughters, Tammie Williams and Sharon Williams, both of Lexington, Ala. and Karen Williams of Florence, Ala.; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Waters; one brother, Pete Strickland; and three infant sisters.
