Joanie Pickens (12-27-13) service 12-31-13

Joanie Pickens, 61, died Friday, Dec. 27 in Nashville. She was the daughter of the late Louis Elmer Gean, Sr. and Jacqueline Louise Hardin Gean.

Joanie was owner of the Tumbleweed Family Dance. She also worked as a licensed beautician and bartender at American Legion and Moose Lodge. Joanie was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Timmy Talley, Robin Beam and Heath Talley, all of Savannah; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Sonny Gean of Savannah; and two sisters, Jackie Milford of Savannah and Bubba Brackett of Newton, Ill.

In addition to her parents, Joanie was preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Blocker and a great-grandchild, Bentley White.
Services were held on Dec. 31 in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed at Mount Hermon Cemetery in Hardin County.
