Jody Weatherspoon (2-4-10) services 2-7-10

JoAnn "Jody" Weatherspoon, 71, of Savannah, died Thursday, Feb. 4.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late George and Mamie Bailey Burns. She was united in marriage to Floyd Weatherspoon Sr., who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Weatherspoon was a homemaker and a member of the Love Tabernacle Church of God in Christ.

Services were held on Sunday, Feb. 7, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Charles Daniels, Cleophas Cherry officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Alexander, Sherian Hartnest, Gayle Weatherspoon and Catina Weatherspoon, all of Savannah, Elizabeth McCoy of Tupelo, Miss.; four sons, James Burns and Stevie Weatherspoon, both of Savannah, Victor Weatherspoon of Dallas, Texas, and Galvin Weatherspoon of Memphis; two sisters, Mary Weatherspoon of Savannah and Trudy Pitts of Milwaukee, Wis.; two brothers, Freddie Burns of Milwaukee, Wis. and Edward Burns of Savannah; a host of grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Hollinsworth; a brother, William Bailey; and three grandchildren.
