Joe Edward Counce departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Hardin Medical Center at the age of 84 years, 7 months.
He was born on March 11, 1930, the son of the late George and Beulah Harris Counce. He was united in marriage to the late Frankie Mae Tidwell Counce on March 7, 1952. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 2014.
Mr. Counce served his country in the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He lived in Hardin County for most of his life, and was employed at the Hardin County Solid Waste company in Savannah as the manager of the Convenience Center for 14 years. He was a faithful watcher of Channel 10 Gospel Music and was a member of Plummers Chapel Church in Savannah. He was well liked by everyone and was a devoted husband and father.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Briley and Rebecca Adams, both of Savannah and Barbara Britt of Pensacola, Florida; two sisters, Josie Kenney of Tampa, Florida, and Pat Murray of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Jason Durham, Teneille Dickey, Nicky Robinson, Krista Adams, Josh Britt and Samantha Briley; and eight great-grandchildren, Paidon McLin, Blaine Durham, Reyna Dickey, Caleb Robinson, Gavin Dickey, Keaton Durham, Isabella Briley and Carson Neill.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Counce and Wilbur Counce; and one grandchild, Christopher Robinson.   
Services were held on Monday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Larry Vandiver officiating. Burial followed in Crump Cemetery at Crump, Tennessee.
