Joel Burleson

Joel Burleson was born Nov. 18, 1936, in Wayne County, Tenn., the son of the late Arto C. and Georgie Dicus Burleson.

Mr. Burleson departed this life Sunday, Jan. 24, at his home near Collinwood at the age of 73 years, 2 months, 6 days.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burleson was preceded in death by a brother, Issac Burleson; and an infant sister, Betty Burleson.

He was a supervisor at Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a member of the Church of God.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Burleson; son, Ronald Keith Burleson; a daughter, Kellie Brewer, all of Collinwood; grandson, Thomas Burleson; great-grandchildren, Maicee Burleson, Chloey Daniel, Emerson Brewer and Natalie Brewer; step-sons; David Frazier of Clifton and Ricky Frazier of Collinwood; family member they raised, Chad Gaston of Collinwood; four sisters, Willodean Hill of Waynesboro, Emma Lois Robinson of Olive Hill, Rose Ann Hollin of Adamsville, Mary Elizabeth Reynolds of Savannah.

Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Collinwood, with Glen Robinson and Josh Stults officiating. Burial was in the McCall Cemetery near Collinwood, with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County in charge of arrangements.
