John Mark Hagy

John Mark Hagy, of Olive Hill, was born on Oct. 8, 1950, in Wilmighton, Del., to the late Millard and Betty Jester Hagy. He grew up in Erskine Lake, N.J., and moved to Florida in 1972. He was united in marriage to Faye Arrington on Aug. 25, 1973. He lived in Myakka City, Fla., and Sarasota, Fla., before retiring to Olive Hill, Tennessee in 1997.

Mr. Hagy worked for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department from 1972 until 1997 and retired with 25 years of law enforcement service. He also worked for the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) for six years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa who was strong, caring, dedicated, and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Mr. Hagy departed this life on Saturday, May 25, at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 17 days.

In addition to his wife, Faye, he is survived by two daughters, Erin, wife of Shawn Buchanan of Florence, Miss., and Shannon, wife of Troy Hill of Savannah; a sister, Sandra Yerkes of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren, Ellis Landen Hill, John Trenten Hill, Abygail Gladys Buchanan and Dalton Michael Buchanan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hagy was preceded in death by a brother, James G. Hagy.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Brian Rainey officiating.
