Judy Grooms, of Saltillo, was born in Benton, Kentucky on Nov. 10, 1944, the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna Anna Austin Johnson. On Dec. 5, 1975, she was united in marriage to Bobby Ray Grooms, who survives.
Judy departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 7, at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 28 days.
Judy was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and working with people. She worked for Dr. Richard S. Greene as an office manager from 1984 to 2017.
In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by her son, Dennis Kelly and fiancée Konda Winters of Scotts Hill; daughter, Karla Bunney and husband David of Humboldt, Tennessee; sisters, Francis Bevis and husband Thomas of Memphis, Jane Worley and husband Billy Clyde of Savannah; brother, Gary Johnson and wife Leigh Ann of Selmer; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her daughter, Daphane Grooms Simpson; and great-grandchild, Breelin Blankenship.
Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m., at Saltillo Church of Christ in Saltillo. Burial followed in White Lawn Cemetery at Saltillo.
