Larry Wade Brewer Sr.

Mr. Brewer entered into eternal peace on Saturday, July 7, at the age of 73 years, 4 months, 16 days.

He was born in Holly Springs, Miss., on Feb. 21, 1939, the son of the late Joe Neal and Allie Earline Gatlin Brewer.

Mr. Brewer served the country as a member of the United States Army as Sergeant First Class. He also served in Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He loved the time he spent in Germany. Mr. Brewer worked at Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant, Vulcan Materials and at Savannah Machine Shop as a welder where he retired.

Mr. Brewer had many friends and family who loved him. He enjoyed buying, selling and trading antiques and junk. He had many stories to tell and loved going to fish frys. He looked forward each week day going to lunch at the Senior Citizen Center to eat with his friends.

He is survived by his former wife and friend, Edith Marie Brewer Benson, and the mother of his children of Savannah; four daughters, Teresa Turnbow and husband Doug of Savannah; Loretta Stephens and husband Mike of Crump; Charlotte Shankle and husband Anthony of Savannah, and Misty Brewer Bullock of Savannah; one son, Wade Brewer and wife Christy of Savannah; two stepsons, Roy Stricklin and wife Sherry of Savannah; Ricky Stricklin of Savannah; one sister, Patricia Mitchell of Savannah; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Stanfill, Grant Stricklin, Brent Stricklin, Lennisa Gray, Daniel Shirley, Justin Stricklin, Nichole Shankle, Cody Shirley, Lawrence Gray, Haley Brewer and Allie Grace Stephens; three great-grandchildren, Addison Stanfill, Macey Stricklin and Owen Stanfill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Barbara White, Mary Shagena and Jackie Rich; two brothers, Max Brewer and Joe Brewer.

Services were held on Wednesday, July 11, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Donnie Kelly and Mark Hatley officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery at Savannah.
