Lillie Mae Umphrey Harville Copeland was born in Hardin County on May 9, 1929, the daughter of the late Neal Nathaniel and Nora Bell Hunt Umphrey.
On July 15, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jeff Guy Copeland, who preceded his wife in death on Oct. 14, 2002.
Mrs. Copeland retired from Savannah Manufacturing. She was a member of Savannah Church of Nazarene. Mrs. Copeland enjoyed sewing, playing guitar, gardening, singing gospel songs and spending time with her dog Rosco.
She departed this life on Monday, Aug. 4, in Savannah at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 26 days.
Mrs. Copeland is survived by her children, Annie Carolyn Pinson and her husband Joe, Phillip Jeff Copeland and his wife Brenda, Frank David Harville and his wife Gay, Roy Alton Harville and his wife Kay, Debbie Copeland Rose and her husband Larry, all of Savannah,  and Sherry Harville Holcombe and her husband Anthony of Waterloo, Ala.; and her daughter-in-law, Brenda McCullah Harville of Williamsburg, Ky.; 17 grandchildren, Steven Lee Barnes and his wife Brandy, Heather Renea Davis, Joey Dean Pinson and his wife Heather, Robert Eldridge Pinson and his wife Rebecca, Tina Ann Plunkett and her husband Tom, Pamela Carol Beckham, Hannah LouAnn Green and her husband Jim, Jennifer Diane Croley and her husband Kenny Joe, Larry Daniel Harville, Andrea Partain Pyron and her husband Chris, Christopher Phillip Harville, Brandy Gail Mitchell and her husband Thad, Edward Jerome Harville and his wife Destiny, Rebecca Irene Dixon, Daniel Lee Rose, Wendy Evonne Rose and Joshua Lee Holcombe and his wife Lori; 34 great-grandchildren, Steven Christopher Barnes, MaKayla Lynn Barnes, Alayna Lynn Evans, Danny Joe Pinson and his wife Samantha, David Anthony Pinson and his wife Kim, John Ross Horner, Cameron Brant Prater, Austin Trey Horner, Benjamin Pinson, Elijah Pinson, Timothy Martin Pierce, Samantha Paige Bonds, Jonathan Allen Lambert and his wife Caroline, Brandon Beckham, Malia Raquel Green, Gilbert James Green, Anna Joe Croley, Larry Dylan Harville, Emily Jaylan Harville, Brandon Hunter Pyron, Tanner Steele Pyron, Melody Lauren Copeland, Eveye Rylee Mitchell, Kylie Lane Mitchell, Mikki Alexandria Lucero, Jakob Matthew Lucero, Ava Michelle Harville, Austin Harville, Anna Harville, Landen Isaiah Harville, Aleeya Kay Dixon, Delmar Paige Cornelius Dixon, Saleigh Jade Holcombe and Dane Christopher Holcombe; five great-great-grandchildren, Caleb Pinson, Haley Pinson, Katie Beth Pinson, Brooklin Bonds and Destiny Bonds; one sister, Annie Pearl Whitlow of Milwaukee, Wis.; a host of nieces and nephews; and a lifelong neighbor and friend, Nona ( Nonne) Shelby of Savannah.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son, Larry D. Harville; two grandchildren, Johnny Wayne Copeland and Hilary Blake Harville Lucero; four brothers, Albert Herman Humphrey, Enoch Enlow Umphrey , Coley Nathaniel Umphrey and James (Jake ) Umphrey; and four sisters, Cora Delia Umphrey English, Ocie Louella Umphrey Dickey, Verlie Elizabeth Umphrey Reed and Lovie Lucille Umphrey
Services were held on Friday, Aug. 8, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Wayne Bittle officiating. Burial followed in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery at Savannah.
