Linda Jeter

Linda Jeter was born in Knox City, Texas, on Dec. 9, 1949, the daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Rose Ellar Grimes.

On Jan. 30, 1976, she was united in marriage to Edgar Neal Jeter, who survives.

Mrs. Jeter worked for Ingram Barge Company as a cook for seven years. She had owned and operated Neal’s Restaurant in Clifton, and Neal’s Little Fish House in Crump. She had lived in Dallas, Texas for most of her life and moved to the Hardin/Wayne County area in 1990. She loved her grandchildren, reading, cooking, and being with people. She was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church in Clifton.

Mrs. Jeter departed this life on Monday, July 11, at the age of 61 years, 7 months, 2 days.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Crystal Jeter Brown and husband Shane of Savannah; two sons, Timothy Lynn Almond and Randy Lynn Almond, both of Richland Hills, Texas; two step-daughters, Pamela Wilson and husband Donnie of Cave City, Ky. and Beth Hope and husband Keith of Glasgow, Ky.; a step son, Christopher Jeter and wife Teresa of Edmonton, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, Derek Phillips and wife Kylee, Micah Phillips, Kerri Jeter, Emily Jeter, Ashlyn Brown, Acen Brown, and Averi Brown; a great grandchild, Aubree Ludlow; four sisters, Francine Rogers, Pat Hardy, Joyce Parks, and Bobbie Hardy, all of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Tommy and David Grimes, both of Dallas, Texas.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernice Rogers and Geneva Henderson; four brothers, Preston Surratt, Billy Grimes, Jody Grimes, and Ronnie Grimes.

Services will be held today, Thursday, July 14, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tracy Love and Josh Layne officiating. Burial will follow in the Prater’s Chapel Cemetery at Wayne County, Tenn.
