Lorena Wintjen was born on Aug. 20, 1940, in Quincy, Ill., the daughter of Edward Samuel Christian and Bessie Leona Jessup Numann, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Bruce Allen Wintjen, who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1998.

Mrs. Wintjen formerly lived in Quincy, Ill. and was employed with the state of Illinois as a caseworker, where she eventually retired. She was also employed by the Wise Company, Larry’s Echo, Wal-Mart and Nina’s Market. Mrs. Wintjen was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Savannah.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was devoted to her family and always wanted the best  for them. She was a devoted Christian lady, lived her life to the fullest, and who was there for anyone and everyone.

Mrs. Wintjen departed this life on Friday, Nov. 8, at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 19 days.

She is survived by five children, Timothy Wintjen and his wife, Cheryl of Cerro Gordo, Tenn., Renie Jo Wintjen Reeves and her husband, Joe of Jackson, Tenn., Amanda Wintjen Buchanan and her husband, Buck of Savannah, Barbara Wintjen Brumley and her husband, Terry, of Fulton, Miss. and Bruce Wintjen and his wife Abby from Savannah; niece, Marilyn Numann of Savannah; several other nieces and nephews; special friend, Pam West of LaVergne, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and siblings, Louise Menn of Arlington, Va. and Lin Numann of Irving, Texas.

In addition to her husband, Bruce and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell Numann and Louis Numann and three sisters, Lu Migasi, Laura Numann and Lucille Azotea; and two grandchildren.

Services were held on Monday, Nov. 11, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Don Cartwright, Rannie Moore and Wayne Bittle officiating. Burial followed at Graham Cemetery in Savannah.
