Louise Brown (8-24-10) services 8-29-10

Louise "Weezy" Brown was born in Hardin County, on March 6, 1924, the daughter of the late Andrew Burt and Beulah Paralee Franks Stricklin.

On Jan. 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to William Martin Brown, who preceded his wife in death on June 28, 1975.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She was a member of Abrams Chapel Church where she was treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Brown wrote for the Savannah Courier in the Gillis Mills News for 23 years. She also owned Gillis Mills Grocery. Mrs. Brown enjoyed cooking, crafts work, sewing, quilting, baking and scrap booking.

She departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 24, at the Park Rest Nursing Home at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 18 days.

Mrs. Brown is survived by one sister, Allene Brown of Savannah; and one brother, Clifford Stricklin of Savannah; three nieces, Betty Baugus and Cathy Clement, both of Savannah, and Rita Jackson of Decatur County, Tenn.; three nephews, Steve Stricklin and Gerry Stricklin, both of Savannah, and Christopher Stricklin of Nashville.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Grady, Johnny and William Stricklin.

Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 1:30 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating. Burial was in the Gillis Mills Cemetery at Hardin County.
