Louise “Mama Lou” Pickens, 84, of Savannah, died on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson. She was daughter of the late Luther Pope and Mamie Terry Parrish. She was united in marriage to J. C. Pickens, who
preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pickens was owner and operator of Rose of Sharon Florist in Savannah. She was a member of Nixon Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Yvonnia “Bonnie” Lou Thomas of Savannah; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Earline Cummings and Terry Parrish both of Savannah and Liz Cotner of Maryland.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, J. W. Parrish, Billy Parrish and Beadie Mae Adams.

Services were held on Monday, Dec. 23, at Nixon First Pentecostal Church in Savannah with John Robinson and Larry Vandiver officiating. Burial followed at Pyburn Cemetery in Savannah.
