Lula Mary Horton
Lula Mary Horton was born December 1, 1921, in Paducah, Ky., the daughter of the late Theodore Cleveland and Mary C. Brokaw.
She was united in marriage to Charlie Horton Sr. on Dec. 29, 1949, who preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 1990.Â
Mrs. Horton was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing, and playing marbles.Â
She departed this life on July 21, 2013, in Savannah, at the age of 91 years, 7 months, 20 days.Â
Mrs. Horton is survived by four daughters, Shirley Myre of Paducah, Ky., Etta Smith of Paducah, Ky., Mary Cline of King of Prussia, Pa., Charleen Lynich of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Charlie Horton Jr. of Counce, Charles Averett of Savannah; eleven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Horton was preceded in death by a sister, Nell Griffen and a brother, Henry Brokaw.
Services were held on July 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
