Mary McGee

Mary Emma Dixon McGee was born in Hardin County, on Feb. 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Catherine Cherry Dixon.

Mrs. McGee had worked for the I.R.S. in Los Angeles, Calif. for two years and the Veterans Administration as a medical administrative assistant in Oklahoma City, Okla. for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, loved her grandchildren, entertaining, playing board games, card games, working at her church, being a part of her neighborhood watch program, and working at the county Election Board. Mrs. McGee was a member of the Graham Chapel CME Church in Savannah and the St. James Baptist Church in Spencer, Okla., where she was church secretary. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Eastern Star in Oklahoma City, Okla. She had lived in: Paducah, Ky. for five years, Savannah for 17 years, Oklahoma City, Okla. for 38 years, and Flint, Mich.

Mrs. McGee departed this life on Monday, July 26, at the age of 72 years, 5 months, 24 days.

She is survived by her husband, Charles McGee of Andalusia, Ala.; three daughters, Katherine McGee of New York, N.Y., Kelli McIver of Kathleen, Ga., and Karen McGee of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a son, Charles Kevin McGee of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Demetreus McIver, Cedric McIver, Marlon McIver, Ashlee McIver, Kara McGee, Brent McGee, Jordan McGee, Jaden McGee, and Kyla McGee; four sisters, Belvann Bradshaw of Los Angeles, Calif., Peggy Moore, Margaret Haymon and Donna Flourney, all of Savannah; a brother, Paige Dixon of Savannah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Dixon Banks and a brother, Richard Dixon.

Services were held on Saturday, July 31, at 1 p.m., at Graham Chapel CME Church in Savannah with Gallian Fulton officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
