Max Ray Franks, 73, of Savannah, died June 15, at the The Med in Memphis.
He was born in Hardin County. He was united in marriage to  Margaret Brooks Franks, who survives.
Mr. Franks worked at PCA for more than 37 years. He was  a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1960-1963. He was a Christian comedian who entertained at various surrounding churches, civic groups, and nursing homes for more than 12 years. He also wrote “The Merry Heart” Column for The Courier and numerous surrounding counties for more than 30 years. 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joel Franks; a daughter, Amy Franks Forakis; and five grandchildren, all of Savannah.
Services were held on Friday, June 20, at 1 p.m., at Love and Truth Church in Savannah with Jeff Lyles, Harry Nolen, Keith Wood and Philip Meek officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
