Mel R. Freese

Mel R. Freese, 78, of Savannah, died Thursday, Feb. 10.

He was born in St. Louis County, Mo., the son of the late Milton and Ivy Moodestaw Freese.He was united in marriage to Martha Clausel, who survives.

Mr. Freese was a marketing executive director. He had worked for Merk for 30 years, Calgon as a corporation director and secretary. He taught economics and marketing for 30 years at various colleges including: Webster University, St. Louis Community College and was a professor at St. Louis University. He was listed in the "Who’s Who’s Business Executive" in 1981. He was involved with the Saber Baseball Research–Bob Brog St. Louis Chapter. He was a US Army Veteran. He was a writer of five published books

Services were held on Monday, Feb. 14, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Gordon Freese, Carl Deal officiating. Burial was in the Piney Grove Cemetery at Hardin County.

In addition to his wife, Martha, he is survived by a son, Charles D. Freese of Savannah; a grandchild, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Sictor of Suffolk, Va.; two brothers, Larry of Granite City, Ill. and Gordon Freese of St. Louis, Mo.
