Myra Carroll Byrd, 71, of Counce, died Thursday, March 17.

She was born in Iuka, Miss., the daughter of the late Harris and Grace Anditon Carroll. She was united in marriage to James Edward Byrd, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Byrd was a homemaker. She enjoyed community services, particularly helping with elections and supporting the Christmas Toy Store. She was a member of the Pickwick United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and the Merry Widows.

Services were held on Sunday, March 20, at Pickwick United Methodist Church in Counce with Keith Wright officiating. Burial was in the White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick Dam.

She is survived by three daughters, Patty Childers of Counce, Beverly Rogers of Nashville and Karen Packard of Marietta, Ga.; a son, Robert Byrd of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, a great-grandchild; four sisters, Stella Ray of Spring City, Tenn., Ann Williams of Booneville, Miss., Linda Ard of Tupelo, Miss. and Josie Morris of Counce; three brothers, Neill Carroll of Fort Townson, Okla., Wayne Carroll and Melvin Carroll, both of Counce.

She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Edward Byrd; three sisters, Jeanette Patterson, Judy Gober and Alma Crowley.
