Nancy Godwin, 74, of Savannah, died on Friday, May 21, in Jackson, Tennessee.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Columbus Brownlow and Dorothy Faye Love Shelby. She was united in marriage to Jimmy “Turkey” Godwin, who survives.

Mrs. Godwin was a member of Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah and previously worked for Kiddy Shope and as a substitute teacher.

In addition to her husband, Jimmy “Turkey” Godwin of Savannah, she is survived by daughters, Michele Renee “Shelley” Roach of Savannah and Kristi Laine Lewis of Fayetteville, Arkansas; sisters, Beverly Dickerson of Savannah and Judy Griggs of Waynesboro; and two grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Shelby, Roger Shelby, Dixie Shelby, Dean Shelby, and an infant brother.

Services were held on Thursday, May 27, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Jim Chamblee officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
