Rachel Treece Moore was born Nov. 16, 1922, in McNairy County, the daughter of the late Sherman and Ethel Tacker Treece.

She departed this life on Friday, Feb. 22, in Adamsville, at the age of 96 years, 3 months, 6 days.

She was united in marriage to Donald Carothers Moore on Dec. 23, 1939. Mr. Moore preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1991. Rachel and Donald owned Adamsville Feed and Seed together. Many claimed she made the best biscuits at Prices BBQ where Rachel made them for many years. She was a member of Better Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Adamsville.

She is survived by her children, Shirley Boyd and husband Ron of Adamsville, Dewey Moore and wife Mary of Adamsville, Mike Moore and wife Charlene of Edisto Island, South Carolina, Eddie Moore of Nashville, Donna Dickey of Adamsville; 10 grandchildren, Sherry Watson, Tina Austin, Kent Mathis, Regina Robinson, Ronnie Robinson, Stacy Flatt, Jimmy Moore, Misty Weaver, Cody Moore, Jenna Beth Moore; 11 great-grandchildren, Logan Watson, Ross Watson, Ryan Rector, Rachel Austin, Tyler Mathis, Colby Mathis, Colton Mathis, James Kyler Moore, Randy Moore, Zach Foust, Isaac Moore; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Flatt; a sister, Ervie Bias; two brothers, Adell and Clyde Treece.

Services were held on Monday, Feb. 25, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Adamsville with Gene Gist officiating. Burial followed in Mars Hill Cemetery at Adamsville.
