Raymond Wilson

Raymond Wilson departed from life at home Thursday, May 2.

He was born to Henry and Lessie Wilson Sept. 12, 1924, in Old Purdy, Tenn. He was one of five boys and one girl. He accepted the Lord as his Savior. He served his country in World War II. Received an honorable discharge in 1943. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Williams May 22, 1948. Together they raised four children.

He was united with New Zeal Baptist Church where he was a deacon, and Sunday school superintendent and served faithfully until his health began to fail, but his church was always on his mind.

Raymond enjoyed life, hunting, fishing, and volunteering as a fireman and on the rescue squad. He just enjoyed helping people. He worked as a farmer. He also worked in a garment factory, construction and retired from Army Corps of Engineers at Pickwick Lock 1994.

Preceding him in death were his parents Henry and Lessie Wilson, four brothers, Robert, John Lee, Richard and Henry Jr.; one sister, Emmia Bell; his wife, Dorothy of 50 plus years; a son, Philliph and daughter Marry.

Raymond leaves to cherish his memories three daughters, Nancy Wilson, Peggy Cawthon (Royce) of Morris Chapel, Betty Dailey of Clarksville, Tenn.; sister-in-laws, Onedia Eanes of Washington, D.C., Cora Taylor (George) of Saginaw, Mich.; and in his heart, Bobbie Brasher of Kalamazoo, Mich., Floramae Williams of Humboldt, Tenn., Carrie Wilson of Bells, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Malcome, Phyllis, Kevin, Jervon, LaToya and Eric; and in his heart, Amber Necol Cassey "Nikie"; two great-grandchildren, Cole Conney, Alexa Wilson; in heart, Kavanghnda Brandon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
