Rhonda Kay Irvin Franks was born in Hardin County, on January 24, 1961 the daughter of L. D. Irvin and the late Dorothy Ann Young Irvin. On February 15, 1980 she was united in marriage to James Kenneth Franks, who survives.

Rhonda worked for Walmart in Savannah for 26 years in the shipping and receiving department. She also had worked for Angelica and Garans Manufacturing. Rhonda was a member of Campground United Methodist Church where she served as church secretary, Sunday School teacher, Children’s and Youth leader and a member of “Sunshine Friends”. She was an active fundraiser for LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. Rhonda loved spending time with her grandchildren and whole family and she loved making fried pies.

Rhonda departed this life on Sept. 21, 2013 in Nashville, at the age of 52 years, 7 months and 28 days.

In addition to her husband James Kenneth Franks of Savannah, she is survived by her son, Kenneth Justin Franks and his wife Shelia of Savannah; three grandchildren, Austin Weaver, Michael Franks and Matthew Franks; her father, L. D. Irvin of Savannah; three sisters, Teresa Thorne and her husband Bill, Deanna Ford and her husband David, and Kim Jerrolds and her husband Barry all of Savannah; one brother, Danny Irvin and his wife Sherry of Savannah; Rhonda is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Sept. 25, at 1p.m. at Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Savannah with Jason Estes officiating. Burial followed in the Campground Cemetery at Savannah. Memorials may be given to Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 945 Camp Ground Road, Savannah 38372.
