Sammie Presley, 71, of Savannah, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, the son of the late Gladys Miriam Scudder Presley.

He was united in marriage to Debbie Lewis, who survives.

Mr. Presley honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was a military policeman. He worked for LTV Steel Mill as an equipment operator and for Walmart in loss prevention and management. He was a member of People’s Tabernacle Church, Foster Parent Organization and Muscular Dystrophy Association. He was a Boy Scout leader and volunteer firefighter for Hardin County District 5.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Presley; sons, Matthew Presley, Connor Presley, and Gabriel Presley; daughters, Angela Oiler and Taylor Presley; sister, Sandra Barrett; brothers, Johnny Michael Presley and Jack Presley; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen McGriff.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with Josh Franks officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Savannah.
