Samuel Armstrong Jr.

Samuel Henry Armstrong Jr. was born on July 27, 1937, to Samuel Henry Armstrong Sr. and Lucile Alexander Armstrong. He died Thursday, May 9.

He was married to Barbara Cromwell Armstrong.

He leaves his wife of more than 50 years; a daughter, Lisa Armstrong Bevis and husband, Charles Bevis; a son Dr. Lane Armstrong; two grandsons, Dr. Casey Bevis and wife, Holly Bevis, and Samuel Henry Armstrong; a great-granddaughter, Avery Alexander Bevis; three brothers, Edmund Joe Armstrong, Ronnie Armstrong (Una Mae) and Bob Armstrong (Kristi), many nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

He attended First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was Trustee of Hardin County for 24 years and previous owner of Armstrong-Williams Lumber Company. He enjoyed boating, woodworking, sporting events, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Henry and Lucile Armstrong; one sister in law, Peggye Harrison Armstrong; and one niece, Debra Armstrong.

Services were held on Monday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Artie Rivers, Helen Hamilton officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
