Villar Rhoades

Villar Rhoades, 97, of Savannah, died Sunday, July 1.

She was born in Hardin County, to the late William Alpine and Tennie Eliza Jerrolds Godwin. She married Robert Bailey Rhoades Sr., who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rhoades was a member of the Campground United Methodist Church. She had owned and operated Rhoades Grocery and Rhoades Candy Factory before she retired.

Services were held on Tuesday, July 3, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Mike Howard officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

She is survived by her brother, William Duel Godwin of Adamsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Bailey "Bones" Rhoades Jr.; sisters, Ivy Moffet and Fleece Hulen; brothers, Hershel, Grady, Bill and Curtis Godwin.
