Vina Mathis

Vina Mathis, 93, of Savannah, formerly of Iuka, Miss., died Monday, April 29, in Savannah.

She was born in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Monroe and Lucy Hill Davis.

Ms. Mathis worked as a folder for the Iuka Shirt Factory for 20 years and she also worked at Brown Shoe Company for 15 years and McBride Meat Market for 10 years. She was a member of Gospel Assembly in Iuka, Miss.

Services will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 3 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Tommy Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Iuka, Miss.

She is survived by her children, Wilda Mabry of Savannah, Jerry Mathis of Savannah and Gale Powers of Dennis, Miss.; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Hubert M. Mathis; one daughter Betty Reno; two sisters, Zora Davis and Louise Hamilton; and three brothers, Richard, Brownie and Bryson Davis.
