 Willard "Muggs" Boyd

Willard "Muggs" Boyd was born in Clifton, Tenn., on Oct. 22, 1935. He entered heaven’s gates on Wednesday, June 20, at the age of 76 years, 7 months, 29 days.

He was the son of the late William McKinley Boyd and Opal Grace McDonald.

On March 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Jo Moore, a loving wife of 52 years who survives.

Muggs, as he was known to his friends, was a consummate husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend. He had an unwavering faith in God. Muggs was an elder of Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church here in Savannah. Muggs loved to go camping with his family and playing dominos with many friends he made over the years.

Muggs worked for Clifton Manufacturing Corporation as a purchasing agent. He retired after 40 years of service. He was also a member of the Board of Education for 24 years and coached little league baseball for 27 years.

Muggs leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife, Bonnie Boyd, two sons, Jeff Boyd and his wife Tammy, Tony Boyd and his wife Jill and one daughter, Carla Boyd, all of Savannah; one brother, James Boyd and his wife Della of Clifton; five grandchildren, Ike Boyd, Dylan McClain, Allie Boyd, Kara Boyd and Kelli Boyd.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, J.W. Boyd, Douglas Boyd, Billy Joe Boyd, Lloyd Boyd, Norman Boyd, Jessie Boyd and George Boyd; three sisters, Jean Franks, Rachel Boyd and Rebecca Boyd.

Services were held on Saturday, June 23, at 1 p.m., at Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Savannah with Duwayne Pounds officiating. Burial followed in the Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
