Willie D. “Bill” Reed, age 78, of LaVergne, Tennessee, died Friday, March 29.

He was born Aug. 25, 1940, in Hardin County, and was preceded in death by his parents, R.D. Reed and Verlie Humphrey Reed; two wives, Linda Kay Warrington Reed and Luella Jane Lowe Reed; and brother, James Anthony Reed.

Mr. Reed was member of LaVergne Church of Christ and served as deacon and currently as an elder. He was former owner of LaVergne Auto Parts and Reed’s Hose and Fittings.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Miller Reed; daughter, Sharon K. (Charles Kerry) Waldron; grandchildren, Caleb (Alyassa) Waldron, Cole Waldron, Cally Waldron; great-grandchildren, Payton and Lillie Kate; brother, Kerry Reed of Dothan, Alabama; sisters, Lucille Forrester of Columbus, Mississippi and Shelia Bomar of Savannah.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort Inc., 410 Allied Dr., Nashville, Tenn. 37211; LaVergne Church of Christ youth group; Middle Tennessee Christian School Library, 100 E MTCS Road, Murfreesboro, Tenn. 37129.

Funeral services were 10 a.m., Monday, April 1, at LaVergne Church of Christ, LaVergne, Tenn., with Josh Pappas and Keith Pickard officiating. Arrangements by Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna.

Graveside service were held 4 p.m., Monday, April 1, at Memory Gardens, Savannah, www.woodfinchapel.com.
