Baxter Ray Qualls, 90, of Selmer, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, the son of the late Oliver B. and Carrie Shook Qualls.

He was united in marriage to Doris Lea Barnett, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Qualls served his country in the United States Navy. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Services Medal and the Korean Service Ribbon for his military service. After his time in the military he worked as an engineer. He member of the Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Shelby County, Tennessee.

He is survived by his son Phillip Qualls; and his daughter Paula Qualls, both of Horn Lake, Mississippi; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Baxter was preceded in death by his daughter Patty Qualls; and his sisters, Betty and Bonnie.

Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Randy Weatherington officiating. Burial followed at Hollands Creek Cemetery in Savannah.
