Ellen Sue McFall Wallace, 84, of Savannah, passed away on Saturday, June 29. She was born on Sept. 6, 1939, in Lutts, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Robert and Estelle Stricklin McFall. On Nov. 22, 1958, she was united in marriage to Thomas R. Wallace, who survives. Ellen was a true Tennessee treasure. She was crowned Miss Hardin County 1958 and represented her beloved hometown Savannah in the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival and the Miss Tennessee Pageant. Ellen had a passion for preparing gourmet meals for family and friends that often included dishes from the many places she traveled. Her passion for Southern Cuisine was also evidenced from multiple first place entries at the Hardin County Fair. As the wife of an air traffic controller, Ellen lived in 3 states and many exotic locations, including her favorites, Puerto Rico and Panama. While abroad, Ellen enjoyed visiting Lima - Peru, Bogata - Columbia, Guracao, and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. She chose to retire to Savannah to be close family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Thomas R. Wallace of Savannah, Tennessee; sons, Rob Wallace and his wife Donette of Cordova, Tennessee, Mike Wallace of Newbern, Tennessee, and Jon Wallace and his wife Stephanie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, JoAnn Alexander of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Adam Wallace of Little Rock, Arkansas, Nicole Bowers and her husband Dr. Alex Bowers of San Antonio, Texas, and Audrey Wallace, Quincy Wallace, and Chance Wallace, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and great-grandchild, Theo Bowers of San Antonio, Texas. In addition to her parents, Ellen was preceded in death by her grandson, Drew Wallace. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, July 3, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with David Lay officiating. Burial followed at Savannah Cemetery in Savannah, Tennessee.
