Betty Jo White DeBerry, 80, of Savannah, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 23. She was born on Jan. 11, 1943, in Hardin County. She was the daughter of the late James Benjamin Phillips and Marie White Phillips. She was united in marriage to the late Billy Wallace DeBerry on Feb. 26, 1966.

Mrs. DeBerry graduated from Central High School in 1961 and worked for the Telephone Company, Sears, Tommy Jack Real Estate and was the owner of the craft store “This & That.” After she closed her shop, she worked for Hardin Medical Center until her retirement in 2007 to keep her two grand babies. She enjoyed painting, arts and crafts, playing piano, gardening, the beach, puzzles, her friends, and her family, especially her two “Grandbabies” - Lillie Beth and Lainey.

She was a member of New Pleasant Grove Freewill Baptist Church and the Hardin County Republican Women’s Club.

She is survived by her “Number One Son” Brett DeBerry, his wife Jennifer, and their two daughters, Lillie Beth and Lainey Marie. During the last year she was blessed to be cared for by wonderful caregivers Elizabeth Pickens and Lavergne Covington.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, April 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Josh Franks officiating. Burial followed at Whites Creek Cemetery in Savannah.
