Bobby Joe Cherry (8-9-22) service 8-12-22

Bobby Joe Cherry, 87, of Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 9. He is the son of the late Floyd and Winnie Austin Cherry.

He was united in marriage to Helen Jean Franks, who preceded him in death.

Mr. Cherry was a long time employee of Ingram Barge Company where he worked as a tow boat tankerman. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Savannah.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Cherry Avent of Whiteville, Tennessee and Pamela Cherry Everett and of Florence, Mississippi; sisters, Kate White of Bartlett, Tennessee and Margaret Davis of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bobby was preceded in death by his sons, Lynn Cherry and Paul Cherry; sisters, Oneda, Dorothy, Mary, Inez and Annie Joyce; and brothers, Gilbert and Hershel.

Services were held on Friday, Aug. 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Jetta Forsythe officiating. Burial followed at Neill Cemetery in Savannah.
