Bobby Wayne Plunk, 90, of Savannah, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 5. He was born in Hardin County, on Nov. 10, 1932, the son of the late Delos Marion and Lestral Marie Surratt Plunk.

On Nov. 10, 1951, he was united in marriage to Dossie Lou Newman, who survives.

Mr. Plunk served his country proudly in the Army National Guard. He worked for decades in the insurance sales business and also worked in the pharmaceutical industry. After his retirement in insurance he worked for over 17 years at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, where he was always there to assist families during visitations and occasionally worked funeral services, until his retirement in 2020. Bobby was a member for 65 years at First Baptist Church in Savannah, where he served as a deacon and teacher. Bobby was raised on a farm and enjoyed being outdoors and raising cattle on his farm in Counce. He loved spending time with his family and Bobby and Dossie Lou were inseparable for 72 years.

In addition to his wife, Dossie Lou of Savannah, he is survived by his children, Dennis W. Plunk and his wife Donna of Savannah, and Tammi L. Outlaw and her husband David of Bartlett, Tennessee; grandchildren, Nathan H. Plunk and his wife Shelley, Wesley J. Plunk and his wife Jessica, and Ethan Allen Outlaw and his wife Caroline; and great-grandchildren, Nolan Plunk, Claire Plunk, Cannon Plunk, Sawyer Plunk, Winston Plunk, Graham Plunk, and Sebastian Plunk, who is due in September.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delos Marion and Lestral Marie Plunk; one son, Stacy Allan Plunk; and two brothers, Harold G. Plunk and Billy Max Plunk.

Memorial donations may be made to Savannah First Baptist Church Youth Fund, 145 Main St., Savannah, TN 38372.

Services were held on Friday, Sept. 8, at First Baptist Church in Savannah, with Andrew Bosak officiating. Burial followed at Memory Gardens in Savannah.
