Carl Junior Franks, 59, of Savannah, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 28. He was born on May 2, 1964, in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late Herschel and Aileen Mae Franks.

For over two decades, Carl dedicated himself to his work as a welder. He found solace and strength in his faith as a member of Nixon First Pentecostal Church. Carl will be remembered as a loveable, kind-hearted individual, and will be deeply missed by those that knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Smith of Lexington, Tennessee; son, Josh Franks of Iowa; grandchildren, Haren Barnickel, Ava Barnickel and Jax Raymond Franks; brothers, James Franks of Michigan, and Ricky Franks, Jerry Franks, Ronnie Franks, Donnie Franks, David Franks, and Rex Franks, all of Savannah; and sisters, Jean Oldham of Savannah, and Barbara Ward of Waynesboro.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Franks and Daniel Franks; sisters, Debbie Franks and Emma Franks; and grandchild, Aiden Barnickel.

Memorial services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, with John Robinson officiating. Burial followed at Pine Hill Memorial Garden in Adamsville.
