Charlotte Evelyn Pickett, 82, of Spokane Valley, Washington, and formerly of Pickwick, passed away at Multi-Care Valley Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 28, surrounded by family after a courageous 17-month battle with cancer. She was born on July 20, 1940, in Dayton, Tennessee, the daughter of Parker and Bessie (Morgan) Rice.

She was united in marriage to Hubert Pickett and from this union they were blessed with a son, Jackie E. Pickett in 1959. Charlotte and Hubert made their home in Pickwick Dam, for many years.

Mrs. Pickett went to Ray Central High School. She was a hairdresser and later, in a new career, worked for 20 years at Harrah’s Casino in Robinsonville, Mississippi. After retirement, Charlotte moved to Spokane Valley, Washington, in October, 2009, to live with her dear sister, Helen Sue Koutnik.

She is survived by son, Jackie E. Pickett (Jonie) of Rockton, Illinois; grandsons, Brandon (Sarah) Pickett of Knoxville, Tennessee; and Derek Pickett of Memphis, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Garrett, Zoey and Julian Pickett of Knoxville, Tennessee; step-granddaughter Brooklyn (Wade) Kretsinger of Rockton, Illinois; step-great grandchildren, Peyton, Reid, Brady and Gianna Kretsinger of Rockton, Illinois; siblings, Madeline Cutright, of Dutton, Alabama, and Sue Koutnik of Spokane Valley, Washington; niece Barb Hormel (Steve) and children Justin, Parker and Madison of Spokane Valley, Washington; sister-in-laws Denny Pace of Paducah, Kentucky, June Rice of Tampa, Florida, and Janet Rice of Dayton, Tennessee; aunt Laura Yates of Battle Creek, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews of Paducah, Kentucky; Dayton, Tennessee; Tampa, Florida, Spokane Valley, Washington, and Seattle, Washington.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ralph Rice and Ray Rice; and sisters, Jean Fann and Sharon Laster.

Per her wishes there will be no funeral but a celebration of life with immediate family. Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
