Claire Scott Montejunas, 92, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, at HMC Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 16, 1930, in Melrose, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late William and Elena Scott.

Mrs. Montejunas graduated from Wakefield High School in 1948. She studied at Melrose Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1954. Her career as a nurse lasted into her 70’s. She had a great passion for helping and caring for others.

She had a passion for swimming, gardening, reading and cooking. She loved to do her daily water aerobics and plant new things in her garden. She could often be found curled up in her favorite chair with her romance novels which she happily passed along to her family once finished. She was notorious for only trying a recipe once before changing it even when it was perfect.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Montejunas, who she was married to for 68 years; along with their children, Beverly (Scott) Aiman of Chatham, New Hampshire, Ellen (Larry) Saulnier of Savannah, and David (Rene) Montejunas of Cape Coral, Florida; grandchildren, Gregory (Rene) Montejunas of Antrim, New Hampshire, Jessica (John Mack) Nolan of Nashua, New Hampshire, Corrine (Elias) Asfour of Lowell, Massachusetts, Nicole (Joshua) White of Nashua, New Hampshire, Larry Paul (Jennifer) Saulnier of Houston, Texas, Mathew Saulnier of Nashua, New Hampshire, Colton (Gena) of Huntsville, Alabama, Anthony Saulnier of Savannah, Trey Link of Cape Coral, Florida, Tyler Beauvias of Cape Coral, Florida, and Maegan Aiman of Laconia, New Hampshire; and great-grandchildren; Autumn Asfour, Paige White, Kyleigh Link and Jordynn Beauvais .

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Scott, who was MIA in Korea, and James Scott, who was a Navy veteran.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join the family at Shackelford funeral directors, 450 Church St, Savannah. A wake will be held on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 5-8 p.m., with a funeral to follow on Friday, Jan. 20, at 1 pm.
