Dorothy Jean Stricklin, 74, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, July 11. She was born in Hardin County, on Dec. 5, 1947, the daughter of the late Leander Douglass Murphy and Katherine Franks Murphy Johnson. On June 16, 1967, she was united in marriage to Jesse Stricklin, who survives.

Throughout her life, Dorothy had worked for River Heights Manufacturing Company, Angelica, Garan Manufacturing, Harwood Manufacturing and Cross Country Manufacturing. She also cleaned houses later in life, becoming good friends with those she cleaned for.

Dorothy was a member of Forest Ridge Union Church and later attended Trinity Methodist Church. She wrote a column “Gillis Mills News” for the Savannah Courier. Dorothy loved her family, cooking and singing.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, Jesse Stricklin, Dorothy is survived by her children, Jennifer Lambert and her husband Chris, Kendrick Stricklin and his wife Christie, and Shuan Stricklin, all of Savannah; a brother, Russell Murphy of Savannah; and grandchildren, Jessica Ozment and her husband Caleb, Lizzie Stricklin, Krystyn Lambert and Kayde Lambert.

Services were held on Sunday, July 17, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Jason Estes and Daniel Holt officiating. Burial followed at Lutts Cemetery in Lutts, Tennessee.
