Dr. Lytle Stephen Bingham, age 72, of Watkinsville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 17. He was born on Jan. 3, 1951, in Saint Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Lytle Brooks Bingham and Betty Sue Scott Harrison.

Dr. Bingham was a pastor for over forty years and had the heart of a servant. He is remembered by his congregants as a minister who genuinely cared for them. After retirement, he continued to pour into the lives of others by substitute teaching at North Oconee High School in Watkinsville, Georgia. He was also the summer camp pastor at Camp Kaleo in Forsyth, Georgia, for 34 years. He was an avid Tennessee Volunteers and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved dogs and will be missed by his Boston Terrier, Buster.

He was diagnosed with terminal cancer on Dec. 17, 2022, and passed away exactly four months after his diagnosis.

He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He positively impacted the lives of those to whom he ministered, led, and loved.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold Dale Harrison of Savannah; and his stepmother, Helen Fern Bingham of Charleston, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jennie Carole Bingham; his son, Brad Bingham; daughter in law, Deanna Bingham, and their children, Lauren and Landen of Spring Hill, Tennessee; daughter, Stephanie Langley, son in law, Reid Langley, and their children, Lawson and Weston of Hoschton, Georgia; siblings, Kathy Bingham Turner of Franklin, Tennessee, Christy Pullen and Holly Lovell of Charleston, Missouri; as well as several extended family members and friends.

Memorial and funeral services to honor Mr. Bingham’s life were held on Saturday, April 29, at The Rock Baptist Church, in Rex, Georgia. Graveside services and interment followed on Sunday, April 30, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Saltillo.
